Startalk Teaching
Program DetailsStarTalk teacher program was initiated in conjunction with the Virginia STARTALK Chinese Academy (VSCA) by the Virginia Department of Education (DOE). It was implemented at the Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) in Richmond, during the years 2008 and 2009. The VSCTA worked closely with the VSCA to provide teacher training, share teaching responsibilities, and offer quality innovative teaching for students in the Governor’s Foreign Language Academies (GFLA). The dynamic learning environment that teacher participants created for the VSCA is highly acclaimed and well recognized by the VSCA staff and teachers, parents and students, and the DOE and VCU.

Our philosophy is student-centered by applying communicative teaching approach, authentic material in a theme-based setting with differentiated teaching approach. After training for one month, teachers can apply what they have learned in online teaching courses. Students learn at home with teachers for ten days. |
